The Federal Government has opened the application portal for the Presidential Metering Initiative (PMI) Meter Installer Training 2026. The program aims to train 5,000 Nigerian youths in meter installation and electrical house wiring to support the nationwide rollout of electricity meters.
The Presidential Metering Initiative seeks to close Nigeria’s estimated 7 million metering gap and end estimated billing. Successful applicants will receive expert training from the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) and certification from the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA).

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants for the Presidential Metering Initiative must:
- Be a Nigerian aged 18 to 35 years.
- Have a science background.
- Possess a minimum of SSCE or its equivalent.
- Be an NYSC member or a student of a technical or vocational institution.
- Have a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
- Be physically and mentally fit.
- Be willing to work in the power sector.
No previous experience is required. Training is provided.
Note: Only one application is allowed. Multiple applications will result in disqualification.
